Marcie Jones and Murt Bickett are the Co-Presidents of Gentog, LLC an intergenerational day care center for child care and adult daycare.  We have worked together as Vice Presidents / Operations Managers for a national credit reporting agency for more than 25 years.  When we decided to start our own business, we sought a way to actively live our faith and to create something that will better the world we live in.  Murt wanted a way to use her love of children productively.  Marcie worked her way through college as an aide in nursing homes, and longed for a way to be of service to the elderly.  The idea of an Intergenerational Center was born.  Early in 2007 we decided it was time to actively pursue the idea.

Intergenerational day care programs are a special concept, but not unheard of.  In our research we found and joined "Generations United" (GU), a national membership organization focused solely on improving the lives of children, youth and older people through intergenerational programs, strategies and public policies.  GU represents more than 100 national, state, and local organizations and individuals representing more than 70 million Americans.  We attended the GU bi-annual convention this summer to learn more about the possibilities of intergenerational programs, and to develop relationships with others in this field.

In the spring of 2007 Marcie also attended a workshop at St. Anne Center for Intergenerational Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, entitled "Bridging the Gap Between Generations".  The two-day workshop was devoted to teaching interested professionals how to create an Intergenerational Day Care Services Center.
